“I chose to donate to GIVING HANDS VANUATU because I want a safer public health facility for everyone. We are all connected throughout Vanuatu, we never know maybe one of our extended family could be in there and sick. If my hand is short in helping them directly, I want to know that whatever help I can give will contribute to accommodating them.” said Velenie Jacob

“As a small, local, and self-funded CSO, HCDI is committed to empowering people and building their capacity, and we love working together with other people and organisations. Women play such a crucial part in the growth of Vanuatu, but are often overlooked.  HCDI is happy to be able to contribute to the promotion of women's well-being through this project.  We are grateful that Helping Hands, and also VBTC, put together these much needed hospital improvement initiatives to make sure new mothers and their babies can be happy and healthy. We hope that many others will also be able to contribute. ” said Dr. Astrid Kersten, Executive Director, HCDI.

“With this donation, I would like to honor my mom and my auntie, Marguerite Hai, who sadly passed away a week ago. She had worked at the VCH for many years until her retirement in 1998. Seeing our VCH needing help, she would have reached out. My family is happy to support the refurbishment, ensuring that we have a good facility. We are stepping in on her behalf.” said Paul Pio.

"My Mother and father worked at the VCH since it was built until thier retirement in the late 90s. When my cousin initiated the idea to help (ROY SIMEON now living  in Adelaide, South Australia) and contributed to our funds, I felt it is right and appropriate on behalf of Simeon family, from Maslahau station, Uleveu Island, Maskelyne island, South Malekula to contribute to the cause to repair VCH. Thank you Helping Hands for the initiative and facilitating this process to help." said Richard Tatwin Simeon

"I am a 23 years old girl who has travelled to Australia on the 10th of January 2020, under the agency of Mrs. Sylvie Kalmet & arrived safely at Victoria, South Australia. I lived at Mildura, worked as a grape picker until May my contract expired & should be returning back to Vanuatu but due to the occurrence of the Covid-19, My Contractor then extended my Visa & moved me to Queensland, Northern Australia, where I worked for a big Company called Perfection Farm. However, firstly I lived in Caloundra and go to work in Caboolture as a Raspberry Picker & Then I went & lived at Childers and go to Bundaberg to worked as a Blue Berry Picker and then Back to Caloundra, Caboolture picking Rasberries until the 6th of the last month. My Contractor then move me to Tasmania.
Here am still working as a Picker, picking Blue Berry & Rasberry in the Perfection Berries, Tasmania.
Despite all challenges, I want to acknowledge everyone back my country 🇻🇺 for your everyday prayers towards me and the other RSE & SWP workers oversea. Thus, I always cross my hands and was very happy to donate back to our country for now & future as a whole for our nation. " Love you all, Jehovah's Blessing upon each & Everyone of us & My Prayers is always with you all back in Vanuatu." said Lila Betty Boaz !
