REPAIRS TO THE CORRIDOR ROOF
Can you imagine walking into a maternity ward to have your baby and water is on the floor because its coming into the ward from the leaking corridor roof outside? Or you have just had a baby and walking around in the maternity ward with your infant in your arms with slippery water on the floor.
Or your child has had surgery and is in thier hospital bed being taken back to the Childrens ward and its raining down and the water is falling on your child who has come straight out of surgury?
This is can be seriously dangerous!
This is why it needs fixing and it is why its important to fix!
This is why GIVING HANDS VANUATU has stepped in to help!
We have officially received the Engineers report and the final quote for the works to be done to repair the corridor roof on the Children’s ward side of Vila Central Hospital.
The total quote comes to VT2,737,000. We were given a 15% discount from Vanuatu Roofing which is very much appreciated.
We have raised to date VT969,407 which means we have VT1,767,593 to raise before the works can begin.
We would like to take this time to express our sincere gratitude to every single person who has helped us acheive this. You are amazing human beings with big hearts! Thank you to you all!
HANDWASHING STATION REPAIR
On the 20th January 2021 we posted a photo of a sink on our facebook page that needed repairing as it was no longer working. Within an hour we had plumbers reaching out to us, offering to fix it. The first to contact us and offer thier support was Dinh Gilbert from Dinh Plumbing Services.
On Thursday 28th January 2021, Kiki Obed and Dinh Gilbert from Dinh Plumbing Services completed the repairs on the hand washing station.
"Children are the future of this country. I have kids too. Maybe one day, one of my children might end up at the hospital. It's also nice to help people by using our skills. I'm a christian and I feel blessed when I bless people with my services. We just want our good people to take care of this facility." explained Dinh Gilbert

CLEAN UP CREW AT VCH
On 2nd February 2021 GIVING HANDS VANUATU has joined forces with the Pacific Suppliers and the South Sea Services team of crew who work on board the P&O Cruises Australia ships, to clean all the bathrooms and handwashing stations in the Vila Central Hospital Wards.
GIVING HANDS VANUATU wants to express thier sincere appreciation and gratitude for the hard work this Clean-Up Crew participated in today and to Thank Pacific Suppliers for providing all cleaning products and utensils for the team to use to carry out this initiative. Pacific Suppliers also provided 4 highly experienced staff to join the Clean-Up crew to help.
Another sign of amazing community spirit!

WATERWORLD PLUMBING REPAIRS AT VCH
On 11th February 2021, WATERWORLD team were busy at VCH plunging shower and sink drains and unblocking toilets.
This is just the start of thier list of items they are addressing and we are extremely grateful for thier co-operation, assistance, time and skills.
We will post more as they make progress in helping with the plumbing issues at VCH. But in the mean time we wanted to share thier progress and thier help and support.

WATERBLASTING PATHWAYS AT VCH
On the 15th February 2021, Jack Nauah and Sandlewood Apartments; Maki joined forces and started waterblasting the footpaths at the hospital and cleaned out the drain near the childrens ward!
